Back at the end of May I got to see these people all pitch 6 minute talks at Talent Search -TED@Sydney. All of them were good and I did like the Whale Shark guy but we had to try and vote for who we really, really responded to on the day.
My top picks were Chantelle Baxter and Linh Do both from Melbourne. I was absolutely delighted to find out that Pip Hall was from Auckland as she had the most unlikely story line.
Linh Do is 21? now and she still has all the infectious exuberance of youth. At the time I was thinking if the UN has more like Linh then there is hope after all.
The real surprise of the afternoon was Pip Hall. When I saw the words syncronised swimming I was about to score 1/5 as even though I have never watched it – there is a good reason why that is.
On paper the Wet Hot Beauties just looks silly at best. In person Pips joy and composure asys she is really up to something much bigger than the sum of its parts.
Watch these and more and vote for the ones you like. The best one/s get to present at TED 2013.

“people that do things out of passion, do them better”
“it’s about simplified, authentic storytelling.”
